Children and Young People’s IAPT Project – National Curriculum for Phase One

The key aim of the Children and Young People's IAPT project is to transform existing services for Children and Young People by adopting those elements of the IAPT programme which will help improve outcomes for Children and Young People, providing treatment which is based on best evidence, outcomes focussed and client informed.

Effective training and service development are key to the success of the project. A national curriculum has been developed to train therapists, supervisors and service managers  in the therapies   selected for Phase One  of the Children and Young People's IAPT Project  ie  CBT and   Parent Training for 3-10 year olds , as well as  service development and organisational change.

HEIS and areas wishing to apply for funding from the Children and Young People's IAPT Project should read the information set out at www.iapt.nhs.uk/cypcollaborative

HEIs and Training Partners who wish to form collaboratives with local area partnerships of commissioners and providers of CAMHS will need to supply training in line with a national curriculum.  The curriculum (Download) was written by the Children and Young people's IAPT Project Education and Curriculum Task and Finish Group.  It has been informed by stakeholder comment following publication of a draft of the curriculum and by a wide range of professionals.  It has also been informed by the consultation with young people conducted by YoungMinds- click here to visit the external website
